Annelize Hefer

Founding Director

Annelize Hefer obtained her LLB degree cum laude from the University of Pretoria. She was, inter alia, awarded the Vice Chancellor & Rector Medal for Best Law Student of the university for all four years of study. Annelize completed her articles at a prestige law firm in Sandton, Johannesburg, whereafter she was admitted as an attorney. She was then appointed as legal advisor of an insurance underwriting agency and gained extensive experience in Medical Malpractice and Professional Indemnity insurance claims. She successfully completed various insurance examinations and was registered with the then Financial Services Board as both a Key Individual and Representative.

Annelize discovered early on in her career that she had a preference for Medical Law and she consequently completed a Certificate in Medical Law through UNISA. During her ten-year tenure as legal advisor, she gained experience in medical malpractice matters involving a variety of medical practitioner specialities (including Allied Healthcare Practitioners), nurses and healthcare establishments (such as hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and radiology practices). Her exposure to Professional Indemnity insurance claims included a variety of professions, such as attorneys, advocates, engineers, architects, estate agents and brokers.

Annelize returned to practice to specialise further in Medical Law and, after having worked at a law firm in Pretoria as a senior attorney  for a while, founded her own law firm.
