Annelize Hefer Attorneys Inc.
Annelize Hefer obtained her LLB degree cum laude from the University of Pretoria. She was, inter alia, awarded the Vice Chancellor & Rector Medal for Best Law Student of the university for all four years of study. Annelize completed her articles at a prestige law firm in Sandton, Johannesburg, whereafter she was admitted as an attorney. She was then appointed as legal advisor of an insurance underwriting agency and gained extensive experience in Medical Malpractice and Professional Indemnity insurance claims. She successfully completed various insurance examinations and was registered with the then Financial Services Board as both a Key Individual and Representative.
Annelize discovered early on in her career that she had a preference for Medical Law and she consequently completed a Certificate in Medical Law through UNISA. During her ten-year tenure as legal advisor, she gained experience in medical malpractice matters involving a variety of medical practitioner specialities (including Allied Healthcare Practitioners), nurses and healthcare establishments (such as hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and radiology practices). Her exposure to Professional Indemnity insurance claims included a variety of professions, such as attorneys, advocates, engineers, architects, estate agents and brokers.
Annelize returned to practice to specialise further in Medical Law and, after having worked at a law firm in Pretoria as a senior attorney for a while, founded her own law firm.
Elzahné Botha obtained her BSc: Food Science and Technology degree as well as her LLB degree from the University of Pretoria. She was a member of the Golden Key Honour Society and participated in Moot Court where she excelled in various competitions nationwide.
Elzahné completed her articles in commercial and property law. After her admission as an attorney, she sought a position where she could combine her two interests: medicine and law. She was consequently appointed as Professional Assistant at Annelize Hefer Attorneys, where she is currently specialising in Medical Law.
Sandra was admitted as an attorney in May 2011. She obtained her LLB degree cum laude and qualified for the Dean’s List of Merit for each year of her studies. During her articles of clerkship she gained experience in general and commercial litigation and after being admitted she specialised in inter alia personal injury litigation, insurance litigation and medical malpractice litigation. Sandra has also completed certificates in medical law as well as medical malpractice litigation and she is currently furthering her studies in the field of medical law.
